While we’re on news about French at Stirling, congratulations to our colleague Aedín ní Loingsigh who was conferred Fellow status under Stirling’s Framework Evidencing Learning and Teaching (SFELTE) earlier in the Summer. Aedín was one of a small group of teaching staff who were the first in the university to undertake the application process. SFELTE Fellowship is mapped against a national programme recognising the engagement of third-level teaching staff with the student learning experience.

As well as acknowledging her exceptional commitment to teaching at Stirling, Fellowship also provides national recognition, and Aedín will become a Fellow of the Higher Education AcademyHigher Education Academy (HEA). She also joins the University’s Recognition group that promotes and shapes learning and teaching enhancement across the university. SFELTE Fellowship Certificate’s will be officially awarded at the University’s annual Learning and Teaching Conference in Spring 2017.

RATE Award Nominations for French Staff

As the teaching semester reaches its final few days, it’s great to hear that French staff are once again among the nominees for the Stirling University RATE Awards. These awards offer students an opportunity to vote for tutors, lecturers, support staff and supervisors who have had a particularly positive impact on their learning experience across a range of categories including Excellence in Feedback, Best Personal Tutor and Most Innovative Use of E-Learning. Congratulations to Bernadette Corbett, David Murphy, Elizabeth Ezra and Cristina Johnston who are all nominated this year.

The awards will be given out at a ceremony on 22 April, at the end of the University’s annual Learning and Teaching Conference.
